The big storyRetirement crisisart-4-art/Getty Images; Adobe Firefly; Jenny Chang-Rodriguez/BIWhat was once a natural part of the American dream — retirement — is now a luxury many workers can't afford. All of that combines to form a growing, and increasingly bleak, American retirement crisis. Plus, some who do leave work early end up regretting it . AdvertisementWhile early retirement isn't for everyone, retirement at its most basic level — leaving work after most of our adult lives — should be. The notion that people who've done everything they were supposed to, and still can't retire, points to major problems in the system at large.

You could get a mushroom that has a little bit more or a little bit less psilocybin ... which, depending on the activity of the day, might be more than you bargained for. Some corporate elites are seeking out psychedelic retreats to improve their leadership skills, shift their perceptions, and, in some cases, even bond with their teams. My main concern is that people understand the risk, any risk — bad-trip risk, psychiatric risk, or legal risk. "When you see the news of a Wall Street employee or any highly paid professional dying this way, it obviously wakes you up." Wall Street is all about relationships, which often means spending big money to show people a good time. "That's been the Wall Street playbook for many, many years, and I don't think it has changed." On the other side of the coin is Wall Street, where a history of drug use can haunt working professionals for years. At first, I focused a lot of the content on microdosing, which I had done with LSD while living in Thailand. AdvertisementAdvertisementIn my opinion, a misconception is that psychedelics don't work to aid mental health. I don't work with people interested in trying psychedelics to heal post-traumatic stress disorder or depression because I'm not a clinician. If someone is coming to you as a coach to work with psychedelics, they may, for example, be struggling with relationships. The challenge isn't necessarily that I'm worried about being arrested but more about the limitations on what I can do.

Elon Musk has told people he microdoses ketamine for depression, The Wall Street Journal reported. On Monday, Musk said on Twitter that ketamine is a "better option" than traditional drugs. Elon Musk has told people he is taking small doses of ketamine to treat depression and has been seen taking the drug recreationally as well, according to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal. The publication said the billionaire takes full doses of the drug at parties, citing individuals who have seen Musk use ketamine as well as other people with direct knowledge. But, the Tesla CEO tweeted about the use of ketamine to treat depression less than two hours after The Journal's report was published.

Nima Momeni is facing a murder charge in connection to the death of Cash App founder Bob Lee. At a later point, Lee began casually sleeping with Momeni's sister, Khazar, per WSJ. Prosecutors previously alleged in court documents that Momeni confronted Lee that night about his sister, Khazar, before the stabbing. Afterward, friends familiar with the matter said that Lee started sleeping with Khazar Momeni, who is married to Dino Elyassnia, a well-known San Francisco-based plastic surgeon. She told WSJ that, if anything, Lee may have been microdosing ketamine to treat depression.
Cash App founder Bob Lee was part of an underground sex, drug, and party scene for years prior to his death, WSJ reported. Friends and coworkers of Lee spoke to the Journal about the late tech executive's life. The report also provides new possible connections between Lee and his alleged killer, Nima Momeni. Cash App founder Bob Lee, who was killed in San Francisco in April, reportedly spent years participating in "The Lifestyle," an underground party scene known for recreational drugs and casual sex in San Francisco. The report also shed further light on the possible ties between Lee and his accused killer, tech consultant Nima Momeni.
Some moms are microdosing, or taking small doses of psychedelics, for their mental health. A therapist who specializes in working with moms shared some advice in The Washington Post. She added that she helped support one patient in particular who wanted to try microdosing to amplify the psychotherapy she was already undergoing. Consider the source of the psychedelic you plan to takeMany psychedelics have a long history of use in Indigenous cultures. Whippo writes that as a result, it's important to figure out who is making the psychedelic you're taking and who is benefiting from its sale.
Many big banks, in particular, maintained drug-testing policies for new hires as recently as a few years ago. But as the public appetite, and market, for drugs like psychedelics continues to rise, it'll be interesting to see how Wall Street responds. Click here to get the latest on the drug-testing policies at Wall Street's biggest banks. More on Solomon's salary adjustment and how it compares with other Wall Street leaders. Elon Musk likes to discuss the benefits of MDMA and mushrooms with friends, The New York Times reported. The billionaire likes to share a chart that shows MDMA and psychedelic mushrooms are healthier than alcohol use, one person who Musk shared the chart with on vacation told the publication. For the past 20 years, Musk has attended nearly every Burning Man festival — often accompanied by his younger brother, Kimbal Musk, the Times reported. Researchers have not compared health benefits from alcohol and psychedelic mushrooms head-to-head. Apple founder Steve Jobs previously touted the practice of microdosing on psychedelic drugs, such as LSD or psilocybin mushrooms in order to promote creativity.
In the early days of the industry, nonprofits and scrappy startups made up the psychedelics space. Research on compounds like psilocybin, the active compound found in magic mushrooms, and MDMA is resurfacing after years of neglect amid the war on drugs. Soon, VC firms focused on psychedelics companies began to emerge. Some psychedelics VCs, however, are still wary about entering the newest psychedelics space: Oregon's soon-to-be-legal magic mushroom market. Insider published a list of the psychedelics startups that raised the most cash in 2020.
He's trying to push Vancouver to manage or legalize it, as cannabis sellers did in 2015. Larsen told the Vancouver Sun that Canada would not have legalized cannabis without store owners like himself, who sold cannabis before it was legal. Now, he's betting that selling the substance will push the government to go ahead and make it legal. Canada legalized cannabis in October 2018, but the illegal or semi-illegal market in Vancouver persisted, especially because of licensing issues. As of November, there were multiple stores openly selling mushrooms in the city, in one case as a way of making up lost pandemic revenue, according to the Daily Hive Vancouver.
Wake-N-Bakery is one of the first cafés in Chicago to use Delta-8, a semilegal weed compound. In case you're unfamiliar with Delta-8, it's the quasi-legal, hemp-derived cannabinoid that's less potent than regular THC but can still get you high. She also recommended using a benchmark of roughly eight milligrams of Delta-8, equaling five milligrams of regular THC, and that dosing should be based on how much and how well you tolerate regular THC, so that's what I stuck with. Delta-8 can be just as potent as regular THC, even though you need to take it in slightly larger quantities to get the same effect. That means it's just as easy to overindulge on Delta-8 edibles as it is on edibles containing regular THC.
Benjamin Ramm first took psilocybin in a controlled setting in the Netherlands in 2019. So I turned to a medicine that I knew could help reset my mind: psilocybin, or "magic" mushrooms. In April 2019, I'd had my first immersive psychedelic experience — a significant dose of psilocybin truffles, on a retreat in the Netherlands organized by the UK Psychedelic Society. For some time, I had wanted to try microdosing and felt more confident about experimenting with psilocybin after the retreat. When taking a significant dose for the first time, I think it is essential to be in the company of supportive friends or experienced facilitators who offer guidance.
